It is every warehouse operators responsibility to regularly inspect their racking for damage. The frequency of this depends on the level of usage the racking gets. In an average warehouse it is probably wise to have a formal internal inspection monthly and an external inspection annually or twice a year. There are a number of options that you can take to get the inspection carried out. You can use an “independent” rack inspection company or use the supplier of the racking. The former has the advantage of not being in their interests to create work however the inspectors cannot be experts in every type of racking whereas the original supplier should be. The original supplier would normally be less cost as they would expect to make their money on possible repair work.
However beware of the independent inspector recommending repairers these are often companies that have paid to become a “recommended” installer. |
